The Hangover, Part III

By Carina Escudero

This week I watched the movie “The Hangover Part III” (Se Beber, Não Case 3, in Portuguese) and I decided to talk about it.

This sequel is a little bit different from the others because the director, Todd Phillips, decided to radicalize after some criticism over the second movie, about it being very similar to the first one. So, in this one, there is no wedding nor bachelor party but, relax, because it’s still very funny (only a little more ‘polished’).

The end of this trilogy is focused on looking for Chow (Ken Jeong) and some stolen gold. For that, the three main characters, Alan (Zach Galifianakis), Phil (Bradley Cooper), and Stu (Ed Helms), go through some crazy adventures. Early in the movie, Alan's father dies, and he gets crazier than he already is. Because of that, his family decides to make an intervention to get him treated for his mental issues. Then, Stu, Phil and Doug decide to take him to the mental institution, but things start to go wrong on the way to the hospital, and they meet Marshall (John Goodman), and his henchmen, who is looking for Chow (who posed a millionaire con), and believes that his friends are still in touch with him. After kidnapping Doug, Marshall gives the trio a deadline to find Chow and the stolen gold, otherwise everybody will die. In the middle of all the story, there is the classic Las Vegas, and Tijuana, Mexico.

To summarize, the movie is quite different from the others, and particularly from the first one, which was so successful and made millions of dollars around the world, but really worth watching and you can have some fun.
People who have already seen it have mixed opinions; some loved it, and others hated it. But, you can watch it and draw your own conclusions.

P.S.: Do not forget to wait a little bit more before getting out of the movie theater, because you don’t want to lose one of the best parts of the movie, the hangover!

If you still haven’t seen the trailer, watch it here:
